Where to retire?
I am sure most of you have seen my thread on my cabin high in the Rocky Mountains of Wyoming https://www.dieselbombers.com/outdoo...res-cabin.html well I plan to work 10 more years then retire up there but life is gonna be tough in the winters since its 8k elevation and gets alot of snow, the winter months ya cant drive in there and its almost impossible to maintain an open road even with a rotary blower it still would be almost a daily task. So I been thinkin that maybe I need to also get a second home somewhere in the Carribeans or some warm place like that to live in the winter months, I been out there lookin around just a bit and am mostly lookin for an island thats not so popular with tourists yet still has an airport or an easy boatride from mainlands ...I found..........anybody have an out of the way place in mind that would fit this description
|
Hawaii??:tttt:
|
move to FL for the winter like all the other snow birds.... you'll have friends down here, me, Logan, Phil, shoot Bobby and Steph might drive down to hang out with ya.... it don't get too cold in south GA, maybe in the 30's for a couple weeks to a month and highs in the 90's during the summer.....

St. Thomas is a no brainer to me, I have been all over the Caribbean and nothing rivals it.

Roatan Real Estate a Caribbean Secret - Real Estate here is a google map, its just north of Honduras http://aboutroatanrealestate.com/pag...tan_map_google |
My sis has been looking into Costa Rica for awhile now. It sounds pretty good down there. Not real expensive and you don't have to constantly worry about rebel attacks.
I'll probably head to the west coast of FL myself, Bradenton or south of there. |

As much as I like it up here more, maybe because I am younger and it is a big change for us, but in the middle of of SC might be worth looking into. If nothing else, just for grins and giggles. Cost of living is low and you still get somewhat of a climate change in the winter without all the snow. But it does happen now and then. We were only an hour and a half from the mountains and the same distance from the beach. Just a thought.

I just seen a Survivorman episode set in Costa Rica...they have some of the worlds deadliest snakes and if you stopped moving for a few minutes you had something crawling on you.
