got me a new toy....

2005 Kawasaki Prairie 700 Team Green Racing Edition quad.

4x4, auto, full skid plates, 25" Maxxis BigHorns, light weight aluminum wheels with true beadlocks, some type of performance chip to raise the speed limiter and give more power and some aftermarket air filters.

people that know this quads here are my questions

what does it entail in servicing, ie oil 9weight and amount)/filter/sparkplugs?

are there any things that i need to keep an eye on that might break or tear up?

how deep of mud and stuff can i go through without something getting injested in the motor?

i want to do snorkels and all on it. how hard are they to fab up and make?

where do the snorkels come off of other than the intake?

will try to get some pics up tomorrow after i go ride it some and get it all cleaned up and shiny....

oh ya it has a little over 1600miles on it and the clock is at 200 hours.

how often should this thing be serviced?

SPEAKSUP 01-10-2009 01:09 AM

I service mine every 50 hours. of casual riding.

Or I change my Oil and Sprak plugs ever Hardcore trip to the trails with jumps and stuff expensive but you got to take care of them.

Cool deal Ben..
I cant remember if that ATV is belt drive on the right side from motor to trans or not.. if It is, here are a few tips bud.

Sounds like its got a new CDI Box on it. Most likely a Dyna-Tec.. they make just about the best CDI around.

The main thing to keep clean after every ride or two is your air filter.

Snorkels are not difficult. What you need to look at is on the drive side of the ATV, there should be a black plastic/rubber tube coming off the housing that covers the belt. That needs to have a snorkel on it as well as the intake.

Untill you get snorkled, I would keep the mud/water levels down just under the main air intake up front. There should be a box, thats where your belt drive and your airbox get air from. If the belt gets dirty, greasy, wet, you wont move anymore.

As for plugs, oil, and how often.. Ive found the best thing is to talk to the service dept at your local dealer. I run ONLY GYRT (Geniune Yamaha Race Team) parts on all of our ATV's. And I clean the air filters on EVERYTHING after any ride. I change oil on my dirtbike ever 3 tanks of fuel. On the ATV's I change oil every 250 hours. But thats more than necessary, I like to call it preventative maintence. If I cross VERY DEEP water, mud.. I will change the oil after the ride is done, especially if I spend alot of time in it.

Highlifter is just about the top ATV forum out there. I bet it wouldnt be hard to find a writeup on snorkels for that very popular ATV u ride.:U:
