Going Hippy For A Cause
Well I think I'm gonna start the new year off with a mission: Locks of Love. I haven't completely decided to do it yet but I'm pretty sure. I've never had long hair before so I don't even know if mine can grow the required 10 inches.
Has anyone else done this or had any experience?

i used to hate going for a hair cut so i just let mine grow
My mother in law asked me one day when i was going for a trim to get it cut short,so when the hair dresser asked how short I just told her if you send it out for locks of love ya can cut it above the neck
off it came after she braided it
total length of braid was 16 inches
unfortunately 6 months later mother in law came out of remission and needed a wig after some chemo
so all tho long hair can be a pain in the butt ya never know when someone you love will need some hair
I say go for it Johnny

I used to have hair down to the small of my back back in college.
It's really a pain. You have to use the conditioner to avoid split ends, for instance. And knots happen. Then when you're laying in bed, you find that you can't move your head, because you're laying on your hair. Everybody that knew you back when you didn't have long hair is going to insist on touching your hair, usually without telling you first. Long hair sops up grease and oil on the ground like a sponge. People don't take you seriously. It gets in your eyes and occasionally in your mouth and gags you. You have to unclog the shower drain every day. When you roll up the windows in the car, your hair tends to get caught. I don't miss the hair.
I'm just working on male pattern baldness now. Only problems with that style is the sunburn.

I donated 22" to Locks of Love back in '05...and that was only half of my hair at the time! I keep it "short" now, but it's nice thinking someone out there was able to put it to good use.
I'd say go for it, it's definitely a good cause even if long hair is pain in the butt in an amusing way...especially when it's long enough to sit on or get caught in the seatbelt haha!

Well I'm gonna try it. I'm gonna see what I have to work with in 4 months and see if I keep going. The wife says if I make it she'll donate too and I might have another bud that might go for it too.
I'm excited. It'll feel good to think that maybe we helped somebody get a little bit of their life back.
