SO I GOT THIS POS CAMARO......
who would guess a camaro is a piece of junk HAHA.........my dad bought a 1992 25th anniversary camaro with the 3.1 and 5 speed.....car was running on the trailer and just died......well they put a new steering column in the car cause the old one was busted (not stolen, the old owner lost the key and had to drive it) well obviously since the key (chipped) was not matched to the car it wont fire the fuel pump but they by-passed it and have fuel to the injectors but the injectors wont squirt......do you guys think its the key not matched to the car, a bad ECM, or something else.......the Chevrolet dealership has absolutely no friggin clue.......im just lookin for answers to get the POS out of my yard......

You can try to have someone (carefully) spray fuel into the intake tract, or remove a vacuum line and have the fuel delivered that way, bypassing the injectors. It will run like complete crap but maybe just enough to move wherever you need it to go. If you can figure out the value of the resistor in the key you can solder one directly into the circuit and the car will think the key is in the ignition at all times. Probably need a GM wiring diagram specific to the car to find the circuit number, and a good high impedence DVOM to measure the key. A dealership can reprogram the car to take another key, but your mileage may vary. |

The resistor in the "chip key" is most likely in the circuit for the injectors. The manufacturers don't usually shut off the pumps or the coils, they just turn off the power to the injectors so the car can't start & die, etc.

Honestly, the car is not crap, the previous owner rigged a bunch of stuff and that is your problem. I don't kow if a dealer can run the vin on a car that old to look up the value of the resistor, but that is what we used to do at the dealer I was at. You have to show proof of ownership and take them the vin. Then they can cut a key for you (I had this done several times when my grandparents lost all of their Buick keys and they had the chip too).
