Guy I work with used to work for Cat and he would take a discarded 3406 head and fasten it to the bed right by the tailgate. Discarded tracks from a dozer work pretty good too because the bed of your truck stays pretty flat. We usually don't get a whole lot of snow around here but if it gets bad I'll find a couple of trashed pistons or heads or somw other peice of junk iron whe have laying around the plant.
