I had my own remodeling business when I was in college, still do the work on the side but now I have a job that I do not have to constantly worry about keeping busy. I do kitchen remodels (cabinets and laminate countertops), tile floors, wood floors, door replacements, window replacements, and new/replacement trim and crown molding. I am perfectly honest if I do not want to do something I will let you know up front, no super high number hoping that I do not get the job.

I had my own construction biz for 6 years.......if I still had it I would be much better off

I had 11 guys workin for me

we did a shit ton of concrete work as well as septic/leach field, water lines , sewer lines

most anything that a backhoe and dumptruck could do

the best money was in the concrete but I will tell you even with all the right tools and equipment it was still hard work but we didnt drown anyone in sweat so its all good man:humm:

I run a small masonry business, "Stone Art Masonry" is the name. I do all types of masory work from brick and block to cultured(fake, man made) and natural stone. Been in business for about 2 years. Really slow this year though. So I also get locked into a cage and fight in front of thousands of people for money.

I own and run a Hydro Seeding business. Mark's Total Lawn Care is the name I use.

No one working for me. Just me, myself and I. We stay plenty busy for trying to keep it part-time.

MotorOilMcCall 10-17-2008 11:56 AM

Run and manage a small logging and tree care company. just me and a buddy or two, but I'll cut timber for big companies when they get busy, or I'll do jobs they don't want to. Tree care is some trimming, but mostly removals, and of course storm cleanup.

Amazing how much work a guy with a saw can do when he has some experience.

I Own and Operate "All In One Logistics LLC"
I have several irons in the fire at all times, first I provide Wholesale sales and hauling services for seasonal Farm Goods using 1 Ton trucks instead of big trucks to keep my overhead down. :5:
I also operate an online business providing free diesel performance information and sources for the average enthusiast and in the near future I will provide parts as well, but it is still a new venture so I am still learning with that one. :w2:
I am also working right now on opening a Bath and Body Works store for the wife, but that one will take a little more time because she just wants to run it, I am doing everything else to get it opened....:argh:

my biz

We can't keep up, can't get enough help, but I do get to have a fleet of vehicles, which is right up my alley. Oh.. and the perks of being the boss ain't so bad either.

valaris415 10-21-2008 01:40 AM

I'm a painting contractor, Valaris Painting out of San Francisco. I've had a contract with Bank of America for the last year, painting BofA's where they are putting on new signs. Its made me enough money to buy my truck with one payment. I love being my own boss and you will always find me working with my crew whenever i can. I also do int/ext residential work and will gladly hook up any member with a great price. lic&ins

I'm not, that's what I do. I do have a guy that was a mechanic for years, he does all my oil changes and what not.
