Best Deer Rifle

I've been thinking about getting a new deer rifle and I've narrowed it down to two. Remington 300 Mag. and a Browning 300 Mag. Which is the best gun? the Remington cost more, I've always liked a Remington. POLL TIME! Let me know what ya'll think about them. Thanks
lucas

I have 2 Browning A bolts in 270 and 280 both has muzzle brakes, with the 280 its none adjustable, its loud but man is she smooooooooth.... The actions on the rifles are second to none! I call the 280 Silk, be cause its as smooth as that  They both kill deer VERY well :rocking:

I actaully prefer the 300 Weatherby for an all around round. But it's all personal preference.

I have an old model 70 Winchester that gets the job done. My Remington was great! Well for being a lawn dart after another jamb!

Remington 700 all the way, though I kinda question the need for a .300 mag for deer. Something like a .25-06 or .270 will kill a deer just as dead as a .300 without having to suffer through all the recoil, muzzle blast or meat damage. Now if you're planning on tackling something like elk or moose with the same rifle, then the .300 is a damn fine choice. I got a .300 Weatherby in the safe just in case a stray moose comes strolling through Ohio.:w2:

As far as muzzle loaders are concerned I live in a state where you can't use "modern" rifles for deer. It's shotgun (slugs only) muzzle loaders (.36 cal or larger), certain handguns or archery. My front-stuffer of choice is a Savage Model 10-MLII Smokeless Powder muzzle loader. My pet load is a .452" 300 gr Hornady XTP over 66 grains of H-4198 clocking near 2400 fps at the muzzle with 3800 ft-lbs of energy (NOT a savage recommended load). This load will group 1 1/4" @ 100 yds if I do my part. Recoil can be vicious, but the range this gun gives me is worth it. Longest kill to date was last year on the second day. I put one through both shoulders of a big doe from 247 yds. Dropped her right where she stood. Try that with a slug gun!:U:

OK GUYS, Both the BROWNING or REMINGTON are great rifles, for deer hunting, you won't find a better, cheaper, or accurate round than the 308 WINCHESTER, or 7.62X51 I have a 300 win. mag, made by MCMILLAN, It has a heavy barrel, parker-hale bipod, it's a heavy rifle so it don't recoil alot.

If your only going to use that gun for deer a .270 would be just fine. All I've ever used is my dads tikka .270.
A couple of my buddies use Browning .300's one has an auto and the other has a gold medallion bolt and they love them.
I was going to pick up a .300 white gold medallion, but when I went in to go shopping they had a 7mm Remmington BDL bolt and it was just so nice I had to since I am going to start moose, cariboo and elk hunting too. I put a Bushnell 4200 elite 4-16x50mm on it.

Its a killer package but I will sure tell you the kick the bigger rifles have sure arent worth it unless your going to be doing some long range hunting on the bigger animals.
I think I'm going to pick up a .308 or .270 for myself just for a good bush gun when I go deer hunting.

Deer rifle season opens in two days can hardly wait to take out the new gun (gotta use the 7mm this year just cause its new)

I said the 308 win. just because you can find ammo at a very affordable price, BUT you can't beat a 7mm-08 with 140gr. It will be more money than the 308 win. ammo, but it kicks less, flatter shooting, accurate as good as the 308 or better !!!:yeah:
