Yamaha Or Polaris?
I'm lookin for a new four wheeler sense the motorcycle deal didn't go through. My question is which is better a yamaha yzf 450 or polaris outlaw? Pointers comments?

Yamaha by FAR...you put a good pipe on that and Jet it and you will have one bad bike, the polaris is nice but it is heavier than a brick wall...so definately go with the Yamaha:c:
|
GO Yamablah over Polarcrap. You'll be alot happier with the quality of the the Yamablah
|
ive had a couple scramblers and my friend had a scrambler and sportsmen so i know polaris makes good quality ATVs and they had good parts counter when i needed stuff. never rode any of those bike u mentioned but the polaris s ive had are really nice

I'd go Yamaha, never really liked Polaris. One thing though, I don't think the Yammi has reverse. :humm: CMIIR.
|
It has too much forward power to need a reverse. :lol88:
|
Yea, but every once in awhile, you wanna pull-out.:w2:

I would really suggest Can Am if you want a suggestion I really really like my Can Am outlander I have no problems with mine and i ride it like i stole it. I had a Yamaha Grizzly before my can am and it was a good wheeler and was real smooth and had lots of power for a 500 i just wanted to step up to something that was faster and had alot more power and with a 800 i never get bored i stay entertained all day. You prolly dont want something that big but thats my recommendation. Also I would look at Artic Cat they have some good wheelers, but yeah if you have narrowed it down to Polaris and Yamaha I would definalty take a Yamaha they are good wheelers for what you are gonna use it for.
|
Can Am's are fine if you want a heavy POS. Friend of mines sun is a professional rider and they just went to Can Am's and I havent heard him say 1 positive thing about them. He even said he would rather pay for his than ride a free Can Am.

Being as you're looking for a sport quad and if you don't plan on racing look at the Yamaha Raptor (ow... that hurt to say somethin' nice about a Yammy). Correct if I'm wrong but aren't there 3 Outlaw models... 500, 525, IRS.
RIDE RED!!! |
I am definately a Yamaha man my self.. Ive never had any good luck with any Polaris machines. The Yam. Raptor 700 efi is a crazy fast machine. FMF Power Bomb pipe and a ECM flash and you are gonna be spankin everyone you ride around. Yamaha makes several atv's that are GOOD sport ATV's, Raptor 250, 660, 700, YZ450F is another one.
On another note, the only ATV I would personally own other than a Yamaha, is an Arctic Cat. AC makes a 300DVX now for 2009,but Im sure you can find a good price on a used 400DVX.. :pca1: OR.. if you want Speed, RAW POWER, and 4x4.. you can look at the Arctic Cat THUNDERCAT. 1000cc 4x4 that will outrun MOST sport quads. Yea, I said that right.. OUTRUN most sport quads. A very good friend of mine owns the local Yamaha/Arctic Cat Dealership and we go riding alot when Im home. Well he brought out a Dealer Demo Thundercat one weekend, and lemme tell you what... THAT is ALOT of ATV. More Ground clearance than any other 4x4 on the market, STOCK.. and when u mash the gas, its either gonna stand up on the back legs or roast the tires. We raced on a stretch of pavement, and the Thundercat outran a stock 700 Raptor, and was right about a length behind the 450.. its WICKED. |
yeah i think there is 3 different models, the raptor is a good bike but its kinda tall for riding trails, if ya want 450 and reverse you could go with the Kawasaki there expensive as all get out there nice 4 wheelers though. My friend had one and he liked it so just another thing to think about:c:

Yamaha between the 2. I always see Polaris machines being pulled back to the truck with straps.
I am partial to the Can-Am's. i own an 800 and a 400. The suspension is better engineered and the power from the Rotax engines size to size are better. |

Not me. :pca1: |
well guys turns out the 450 yamaha doesn't have a reverse. SO I'll see about a 2009 700R which does have a reverse. Heard anything good about them? Or bad?:pca1:
|
the 700Raptor? Excellent ATV.. You wont be dissapointed.. FMF PowerBomb Pipe and get some ProTaper Bars .. and ride forever!
|
The 700R is THE BOMB! Better get lots of armor, 'cuz you're gonna need it. :)
|
Is the 660 still any good? Cause i can get a better deal on a 660 for about 5k less and this one has more go stuff? Do all the 660's have reverse?:argh:
|
Renegade 800!
|
i dont think the 660's have reverse IIRC, there is always the kawasaki 450 with reverse you'll pay a little more but...
I think you would love the 700 loads of power and a top end speed of a MOFO :moto: |
I rode the KTM powered Outlaw as a p-type back in 2004 and if they'd let KTM completely design and build the machine, it would be one helluva bike. But, they don't, so it has some drawbacks. It's fast in competition, but the bikes on the circuit aren't the same (obviously) as what is for sale to you & I...
I'd pick Yammy for this survey...but truthfully I didn't know they still made sport quads because the only Yammy's I see without looking behind me are other Banshees like mine. lol |
I found a 660 for around 2400 bucks the only thing is the carb needs to be rebuilt It has a new transmission, jet kit, chain and sprockets.:yeah:
|
:humm: thats doable if you wanna put the money into it.
|
kinda what i was thinkin Eric. It shouldn't be that hard for me to rebuild the carb on it. So :yeah::rocking:
