Do You Remember??

This being the 7th anniversary of 9/11 i figured i would ask if you remember where or what you were doing on most horrible day of my generation...

I was in 3rd period study hall in 7th grade just hanging out with friends when someone come in and said a plane just run into a building in New York and you guys and gals all know the rest.....

I would also like take this time to acknowledge all those who lost and gave their lives in this horrible event and the family, friends, or any body that had a loved one involved....:c:

NEVER FORGET

Oilfield_Mafia 09-11-2008 07:28 AM

NEVER FORGET is right bud.. It was definately the day America Changed..

I had just got off work @ am that morning.. made it to the house from the rig, and was astounded with the news as I walked in the house.

Just to thinkthat 7 years later, our American Soldiers are still sacrificing their lives for this cause...

I was headed back from WY on days off. Me and a friend of mine heard over the radio that the Trade Towers had collapsed. We didn't believe it, so we pulled into the Little America truck stop. It showed everything on tv. Tell ya we were in total flippin shock.

I was outside at the smoking tables @ Wytheville Community College taking a break from my VA Work study job when a girl ran by on the phone crying. Then someone else went by yelling or something and then my boss, a retired Gunny from the USMC signaled me to come in and watch, so I was watching when the second plane hit. :argh::ouch::madd::bat::guns:
I wanted to go back in!!! but because I had been "Medically" discharged they would not let me...:argh:

I was a SR in HS in the school kitchen for my independent study hall listening to the radio and they were talkin about a plane hitting the towers.... Then shortly after that they came on over on the loud speaker telling us all what happened and had all of the teacher to turn on the tvs to let us watch the news coverage.... Theres a good show on the History channel about the towers right now

I was working (not at BCD), waiting to go in to a meeting re: my promotion, when the first plane hit. When I walked into the meeting, we were all trying to believe it was an accident. By the time I walked out of the meeting, the second plane had already hit, the third was hijacked, I had my promotion, and we were under attack.
At least we all thought we were, and that there would be more attacks to come.

Thank God there weren't.

I remember it clearly, how it felt. Like nothing I've ever felt before. Or since.

I also would like to acknowledge all the victims, their families and friends, all the people whose lives were directly affected. And the military who have or are still serving today.

I was working as a Wide Area Network Engineer. Sitting at a computer when the news came over the radio. We went to the conference room and watched as theh second one hit. No one could believe it was happening.

Wow, what a wake up call it was....

Yep, same here. I had just come into the office after being on location doing 5 days of well logging for Exxon in South Texas. Hadnt slept in 2 days and thought they were messin with me about the plane. Layed down in my office to take a nap and they woke me up when the second one hit. :( Nothing like being really tired and pissed off. :mad3:

I was standing in the first bay of the shop that i worked at back then. I saw a bunch of people stand up and glue their eyes to the tv in the waiting room. I walked in and saw the horror. I'll never forget that horrible day that this Country im proud to say is mine was attacked. Remember to keep the families of the victims in your prayers. Not just today, but everyday. God Bless the USA :usa:

I was in the 7th grade, they put us all in our study hall classes to watch the news and find out what was going on. We had to stay there for the rest of the day.

i finally had a day off work and slept in. i normally had my tv cut on as my alarm clock during the week. i slept through it turning on and woke up right when the second plane hit.

Just got back from my honeymoon and it was the first day back to work I could take you to the customers house I was at when I heard it on the radio. I spent the next 8 hours glued to the TV in astonished horror, that this had happened to my country. Truly the saddest day of my life. What sadens me today, I feel that a lot of my fellow citizens and the liberal leaders have forgotten the price America paid ,on Sept 11 2001, for careless leadership when it comes to dealing with these mad, cowardice men. I wish they still showed the whole thing on TV every week so we don't forget the horrific act these terrorist commited. God bless the families of those who were lost, and watch over those children that never met their fathers. I will never forget this act of cowardice.

was in the car on my way into school and heard it on the radio (i dont know 2nd 3rd or 4th time back to college). went inside and it was on all the tv's. watched it for a while and went home to watch everything on my tv. never did make it to class. never left the couch. something i will never forget. actually got a brother going back to iraq within a month for the second tour. thank you to everyone, those that made it, those that didn't, and those still fighting.

i was in 8th grade going to class when i heard about it. the whole school stopped and watched

Redpatcher0481 09-11-2008 08:49 PM

I was on my way to USMC Base Camp Pendleton, I lived in Temecula, Ca, I heard it on the radio just as I was crossing over the 15, I think that was the fastest I had ever made it to the base. I made it just in time just before they started setting up the barriers. About an hour later it was taking 2 to 3 hours just to get on the base, MP's were searching every vehicle. I will never forget the images of those planes hitting the towers.

I was already in the Army and a buddy of mine and I were on our way to the motor pool for our weekly formation and we heard about it on the radio...our reaction was pretty much the same as yours.

When we got to the motor pool there was about 60 people huddled around a TV watching the news. We couldn't squeeze in there to see exactly what was happening.

Our Company commander came out side and got us in formation and gave us the lowdown on what happened and reminded us that we were the Division Ready Brigade, which means we would be the first to go.

I spent the day with an M-4, guarding the barracks we lived in. And spent the next month preparing to deploy. I was in Afghanistan by the 1st week of 2002

just got out of football practice and made it up to the school. was sitting outside the classroom waiting on the bell to ring and one of the other kids came back form the bathroom. told me and a few other guys that where there about it. we called bullshit. then the teacher heard us in the hall joking around and brought us into her class.

it is deffinately the most shocking moment of our generation. it brought all prejudice down. there was no black white hispanic or any other as long as they were an american. every one was ready for war and retiliation. but know that its been awhile, every one is numb to what happened all year till 9-11. then we remember. i think thas bs. we should all be thinkin bout it all the time. remembering why we are at war against terrorism.

i think the worst thing i seen right after it, only seen it once and aint heard nothing about it since was that 7 monthes before hand 60 minutes or one of them shows like that they were doing a interveiw with an informant of bin ladens, and he told them that america was gonna be attacked in the near future. it never aired till afterward cuz they didnt want to spread panic, and that it could never happen to america. our defenses where to good.

Do I remember?:humm: I sure do.
I was sitting in a plane, on the tarmac, in long line of planes, at BWI waiting to take off for Seattle Washington. This was a cross country flight. 3 friends and myself were heading to Alaska for weeks salmon fishing trip. We sat on the tarmac for, I guess, 45 min to an hour. Plane was then directed back to the terminal where we were told to disembark, pick up our luggage and evacuate the airport. As we reentered the terminal from the plane, looked up and they were showing the plane hitting the Pentagon. That was the first we had any idea what was going on. Scary, eire feeling.
This was the first time in my life I was herded like cattle. Military guys, police and security everywhere.
I do remember.
