I hear HONDA is good, BUT the FOREMAN doesn't have FIS and the clearance that my ARCTIC CAT has.

stkdram55 08-19-2008 07:56 PM

yeah but you can beat the crap out of them things and they just keep chuggin along:choochoo:

DB Admin 08-19-2008 08:34 PM

get a new one they have power steering , something i thought i would never want but bump steer is eliminated also .

I have a 2002 King Quad , Its had a ruff life and still kicking ,

Make sure you can take it out of 4wd some quads you cant

stkdram55 08-20-2008 01:04 AM

ah power steering is for old guys and women, but im guessin it is nice to have.

gunman41mag 08-23-2008 09:51 PM

I think POWER STEERING on a ATV, is something else to break!!!!!!!!

E2theRock2 08-24-2008 02:06 PM

Hey Martin get a Can Am Outlander 800XT like what i have.... its alot of four wheeler but holy smoking oakin its worth it.

Texas_Outlaw 08-24-2008 06:51 PM

Had an 02 foreman 450, best wheeler I have owned. Beat the hell out of it for 4 years, even sank it but it still kept on ticking. It never saw trail riding, had a snorkle, lift, 28" outlaws and saw water to the handlebars frequently. Never had a problem turning the tires even in the thick stuff. Wish I would have never sold it.

DB Admin 08-24-2008 08:05 PM

When i posted i thought you was looking at onbe i didnt see that you already bought it , Im sure it will make you a great Quad !

akguppy 08-25-2008 04:48 AM

Honda's are the Timex of the ATV industry, "Takes a lickin' and keeps on tickin'."

gunman41mag 08-27-2008 09:16 PM

THANK YOU ALL for the replys, BUT I'm going to sell the 2004 HONDA FOREMAN 450 S, and I'm going to buy another quad with FIS & AUTO like my 2007 ARCTIC CAT 400.

I had a new piston, rings and the cylinder bored-out on the 2004 HONDA FOREMAN 450, cause it was smoking bad, the TECH told me not to rev it, drive it easy for 10 hours to break-it in, well not even into the 4th hour, the HONDA started smoking again!!!!!! I paid $400 to get the engine top-end rebuilt. WHAT THE FUNK IS GOING ON !!!! I knew the honda was smoking when I bought it, but the tech told me once it gets the top-end rebuilt it was going to be as good as new !!!!! I bought the 2004 HONDA FOREMAN 450 for $1300 and the rebuilt was $400, so I have $1700 invested in this POS !!!!:argh::argh::argh::argh:

BLACK_06POWERSTROKE 09-14-2008 01:55 PM

hey gunman sounds like who ever did the work did something wrong when they were putting it back together. is it still smoking??? i rememebr 2 years agowhen i ripped apart my 400ex and put a 440 kit in it. it smoked a little till it got good and broke in and everythign seated in good. so if you have putmore hours into it and it still does it i would be takin it back to whoever did your work. good luck man.

gunman41mag 09-15-2008 02:37 PM

HEY BLACK 06, I rode the 2004 HONDA 450 for a total of 4 hours and it started smoking, now when you cold start it smoke will come out, and you can smell the oil. The TECH is trying to give me some BS about the crank having to much play, and puting to much wear & tear on the piston. But the TECH said he will know when he tears the engine AGAIN ????? I thinking of selling the QUAD smoking AS IS.

Martin, you know my opinion on this subject.. Ive owned just about every brand except CanAm. My Uncle has 3 Can Am 800s and he swears by them. I know people that swear by polaris and kawis and each brand.. its like askin which is better between the big 3 ya know? So instead of just telling you my opinions, I will give u a rundown of time of ownership and things broken on each brand that Ive had expierence with.

Honda:
  • Electric shifter solenoid got wet (its placed very low on the ATV) and I was unable to shift without having a pair of vice grips.
  • Front driveline replaced 6 times
  • Low ground clearance
  • owned for 8 months
Yamaha
  • Popped chain and stripped rear sprocket
  • owned for 1 year
Arctic Cat
  • Drive belt replaced due to lack of maintence after crossing deep water
  • replaced cv boot due to rock/stick busting it
  • owned for 5 years
Polaris
  • 3 engine rebuilds
  • 5 rear axle assemblies
  • countless chains and front and rear sprockets
  • several starters
  • carb
  • owned for 1 year
Kawasaki
  • warped head
  • overheating issues
  • owned for 3 months

That about all I can remember bud..

Any way you go you have a 50/50 chance of getting a lemon.. Im sure some people get lemons on arctic cats and yamahas.. its just the luck of the draw i reckon

:c:
