Assembled My 1st AR15--W/Picture
1 Attachment(s)
Went over to a buds house and used his roll pin punches & front take down pin detent tool (well worth the $$), drank one of his PBR's and we had a AR15 assembly party
1st lower took about 1.5 hours, but that was with set up, looking for flying springs and just getting comfortable & taking our time getting it right. Took about 45 min for my lower & that's also looking for a little detent pin that went flying. Got to admit, it was easier than I thought & the RRA 2 stage trigger is really sweet as it's my 1st experience with a 2 stage trigger. Think I might end up getting one for the other Laure lower as well. Now to get a Magpul MIAD grip as we left off the stock trigger guard & only installed the pistol grip to function test it and hold the spring/detent pin in place. Complete Armalite upper/bolt/bcg. Lauer (LMT) lower, RRA 2 stage match trigger & Vltor Emod stock, Vickers padded blue force sling (not pictured). Need to get a full Magpul MIAD grip, have a Troy folding rear sight (BUIS) on order and the Optics (aimpoint???) will be determined at a later date. Attachment 56651 |

what lowers are you guys using or fond of. i'm thinking of buying like 10-15 lowers and storing them away and trying to build 1 a year, buying the parts for 1 gun per year and then assembling it. that way i'll have the lowers, the only part that could be banned if something were to come into affect (or effect) i always get those 2 confused......
what kind of money are those things going for? just the lowers... |
I have been more than happy with my RRA setup.

Depends. There was a few runs of them that were terrible. If you call them they will tell you which ones to stay away from. I can't find the serial number run in my files.
If you are buying a current production one, they are fine. ---AutoMerged DoublePost--- Depends. There was a few runs of them that were terrible. yes current production lowers.

Look at Rock River Arms. IMO they are the best out there.

10-4 will do thanks bud :U:

You bet! I also suggest the RR Arms 2 stage trigger.

Personally I'm a big fan of LMT lowers & ya can get a Lauer (LMT) lower for $110, I've got 2 of em and they are superb lowers.
Welcome to Lauer Custom Weaponry |
Lauers are damn good as well. Lewis (LMT) is up there too, and they have some cool accessories and parts.

x2.. I have ZERO complaints about mine.. I love my RRA AR Match Trigger, and Barrel, Green Grip, forearm and telescoping butt. Ive put THOUSANDS of rounds thru it, with no issues whatsoever. :up2: |

I just found this thread and thought I would share a couple of pictures of an AR pistol that I put together earlier this year. I put an UZI along side of it so that you could compare the size of the build. I used a RR Pistol lower with a 1.5# pull single stage match trigger and a 7.25" long barreled DPMS upper for this .223 caliber thumper. I used a reduced length recoil tube from Gunsmoke ENT to help make the overall length 3" shorter. You need Sunglasses to shoot it at dusk.
(Roughly 6 - 8 feet of muzzle flash.):rocking: Later, Bert |
Very nice!
