03 VFR
 

well, I've been looking into getting an SV650 for a little while now but a friend just called me up a few days ago and told me about an '03 VFR800, silver with black wheels, that's at a price I can't really pass up. so I'm kicking that around right now and will probably pick it up here before too long, pretty excited about it. it's been 10 months since I sold my 600rr and it SUCKS not having a bike, especially being single and close to the mountains AND the coast.

those vfrs are great bikes used to work for a honda dealer and never heard a complaint about them.

yeah, the guy that told me about it works at a powersports dealership too, I've ridden his VFR a few times and was really impressed with it. that thing handles very well for how comfortable it is and was barely slower than my 600rr in a straight line. I'd walk away by a bit in the mountains but I had a purpose-built turning machine with sport tires, he usually had touring tires and circulation in his legs.
riding with a passenger is way more comfortable and stable on the VFR, too.

so I decided not to get that VFR and was going to jump on a brand new SV1000s. well, the sales manager that was going to sell me the new bike sent me an email about a used SV, so I went and checked that out, put some money down on it, as soon as the guy gets the title straightened out and ready to transfer I'm going to pick that thing up.

it's a 2005 SV1000s, so it has the upper fairing and the lower bikini, which I'm going to discard in favor of the full side fairings; and sometime soon I'll be getting some Leo Vince carbon fiber cans for it. so, I'm pretty excited about that one. I'll post up some pictures when I finally bring it home...

If you're a racer the SV will be your choice. I have an R1, R6 and SV650. The SV can be raced in 6 different classes and is VERY forgiving of mistakes. Reliable and cheap to maintain.

picked up the SV1 last weekend, glad I didn't get the 650, the power of the 1k is just right for me. I've gone on one ride on it in the mountains and done a week of commuting on it...fantastic bike so far, it's exactly what I was looking for in a bike. it's comfy, it rails pretty good with the fully adjustable stock shocks. I have yet to take a passenger on it but I imagine it'll be a lot better to hike with than the 600rr was!
I've also found the SV-portal to be an incredibly helpful forum for 650/1k owners, too.
