I found a 79' kw aerodyne with a 3408 cat.............
I'm into cabovers. They are dissapearing out here in CA.
So the 3406a would not be choice? What does a 3406b have ove the a?

3408 is amazing, but you're lookin at 25k for a rebuild

The truck is on the east coast. Shipping would cost me huge. Rebuild on anything big would be 10k and up, right?

No offense Bobcat, but I think any V configuration in a diesel is garbage. Tell the man if the can find one, YOU CANNOT BEAT a KTA600!!!!!!

I kinda have to agree with AF1 about the V8, they are mostly junk. The only two I like are the Mack E-9 and the Scania V8, because they sound cool and seem to hold together pretty well.

well i know the cat 3408 isn't garbage, they're a hell of an engine, but i guess to each their own

Well I'm just basing it off personal experience. We had one that one in a Ford at the fire dept. I used to volunteer at. Honestly, the truck spent more time in the shop than it did at the station due to issues with that motor.

Do you mean a 3208? I could be wrong but I thought only KW and Peterbilt put the 3408 in a truck. They had to have an extra long hood to fit the engine.
