Let's talk DPF

I'm trying to find out, for a couple of friends, whats wrong with their trucks. One is the DPF on a freightliner, cummins with a single stack. He has had it checked out a couple of times but it continues to have problems. Would like to know if their is a fix for this, that would not interfear with the sensors. Their is two!

The other guy got an 2011, Kenworth with a cummins and has not been able to drive it yet. I thought it may have something to do with the DPF also but he said that something was wrong with the injectors. I talk with some big truck shop mechanics and they are working on new fleet trucks, they are telling me that they are having to change turbos, injectors and other things on new trucks. I still think they it has something to do with the DPF. Grand rock makes/sells big truck exhaust systems and after market exhaust for 3/4 and 1 ton diesel pickups too. I emailed them, waiting for response, asking about the samething and if they have any solutions or make a delete system and if it would affect the sensors. I anyone has solution, please let me know. Thanks

i sell tuners for the big rigs but not for dpf trucks. i think you will need a tuner to shut down the regen then take the dpf off but i dont know of any out there.

don't tease me, do you know of any other way around it? I must talk to some more people about it. I've been to the truck shops but i don't know what they are doing to fix the problem. Thanks anyway!

i been asking but got no answers for you. i know it keeps the price high on non dpf trucks.

I have a friend that has a new 2011 KW with a cummins in it. Been towed in 3 times. I am looking for a used semi for the farm can't help but notice that I can find a lot of 06 trucks cheaper then 2007's.

PDI does customed tuned big rig ecms that you can do dpf deletes with as long as they are a cat or cummins engine I believe

becareful doing the deletes to the big rigs you get stopped by dps and they inspect the truck and its missing huge fines

freak-n-diesels 02-21-2011 06:56 PM

thanks for that tip, is their any way to make these trucks run better?

They perform their best when they nose dive off a cliff.:rocking: Seriously though I don't think they are fixable and its too much hassle to delete. Ive had people tell me that an old 350 mack will keep up with most big power dpf engines. I havent driven a class 8 with a dpf but I did drive an '07 KW with a C15 accert and it was a total dog on hills, and we don't have big hills here.

if you can find somebody to write a dpf tune they can sure power it up. i just dont know anybody that would. they are junk the way they are.
