cat 3406b horsepower

how can i turn up the pump on a 3406b when it has the warranty wire seal on it, cat dealer took my 30k now only has 340hp after i had 600hp to the ground before. It started in colorado when i noticed it started pushing coolant under heavy load conditions and went to a kw dealer in denver , told them i had a head gasket going (been doing this truckin thing a very long time)they said it was the water pump and replaced it to the tune of 2200 dollars and 2 days but 500 miles down the road still had same problem , so called my local cat shop at home , explained the problem, they said bring it in so i did, upon diss-assembly it had a cracked head and bad cam ( still making big hp) they said it would cost the same to rebuild it as a new reman motor so i explained the need for high hp as i pull a multi-axle trailer (big weight) the said ok no problem so in goes the new motor. Three wks later they call me and say its ready so i go to pick it up and they show me a dyno sheet that says 340hp at 1900 rpm,and tell me that to keep the warranty i cant touch it , although they did set the AFR for better throttle response,so after lots of arguing i either need a lawyer, or a way to get my hp back without losing my warranty, and also was told opt inframe warranty was better than factory reman warranty(inframe got 200k mileage and factory reman only gets 100k) anyone got any ideas.

30K you need the police you have bin robbed :bat:
how many miles were on the one they took out.
a new head and cam + labor should have bin under 10K, already had a new water pump.
Believe me I feal your pain as an owner operator I spent 10K at the volvo shop and they did not fix my truck I went on line found a number for an eton-fuller local rep talked to him 5 min. he called me back said replace this $340.00 part and my truck was like new.

Shops are hurting for money and will rip a trucker off faster then a lot lizzered :madd:

Good Luck

motor had about 200k miles on it when replaced with what should be gold plated reman , shop said new one was $ 19,800 with shipping to ca. from ohio but they wouldnt show me origanal invoice they said they dont make anything on the parts which i know is BULL,so know i just want my power back and keep my warranty, anyone got any ideas? i know how to adjust the pump, i just dont have access to the cat wire seals to retain warranty if it should ever need to go to the shop so i could turn it back down and replace the tamper proof seal.

Did you spec a 340 Horse 3406b? Considering B model cats are all manual motors, they were designed to have adjustability. If your tech isnt willing to give the truck more fuel for warranty causes he's a dummy, The 3406B were Spec'd up to 500IIRC

told cat i wanted the same power but when motor was installed they said they would lose their job if they turned up the pump, argued with them till blue in the face, they finally said to take my truck and leave if i didnt like it, or turn it up myself and have NO waranty

I would check around and see what the engines are going for, I will give you two links

with only 200K you should have gotten more out of it, I am over 800K on my cummins N-14 and hope to get 1 mill. out of it.

Good Luck

a 3406b is basically an older c15 right? if so, c15's come from factory with anywhere from 350 to 600+ HP. i know for a fact CAT can tune horsepower and still keep the warranty. they're screwin you around, bad.:bat:

I driven two 3406b's factory rated @425hp one had 900k on it turned all the way, the second one had 1.3 million on it with just rods and mains done. it was turned pretty hot too. both bull wagons and still going strong

I would get another pump, would be much cheaper to do that than to get boned on the warranty, especially if you dropped 30K on a B motor.
