HID lights in RECON Projectors???

I was wondering if anyone is running HID's in there RECON projectors. Im up in alaska and a couple of people I talked to said that the HID would burn up the light is this true and any suggestions on bulbs other than HID's I would appreciate it.

I have spyder halos with HID's and those are a lot cheaper than RECON and I have no issues.

How are these Recon projectors made? I was thinking the OEM projectors I have seen have glass lens and metal housings / reflectors. If the Recons are like that you should be fine! If they are plastic, well, I don't know. I don't know if HID's run hotter than halogen bulbs or not. I have a suspicion that they are hotter in operating temperatures.

Thats an amazing one!

They're not really a true projector that's made for HID's... so the light will still scatter. I'd say they're probably a little better than stock housings, but don't expect it to work great like a true projector/HID combo.

Really the only correct way to run HID lights is in a properly designed housing. I've seen someone actually buy new OBS ford headlights, and graft true projectors from something like a Lexus headlight into it. Looked awesome and made the lights work like they're supposed to.

I actually just took my HID bulbs out. I don't plan on running them again.

I run the Sylvania Silverstar Ultras and really like them.

I just went thru this whole problem with Recon headlights and an H1 projector bulb.
I was really disheartened to find out the same thing-that the H1 bulb is too long to fit into the housing.

sorry for the really late reply, but my spyders look great!! BUT SUCK A$$ as night granted I got not the greatest HID's even though there bright as hell those lights do not project worth a darn. I would now honestly spend the money and get recon who actually make a there HALO's work with HID's than go the cheap route like I did.

How exactly did Recon make theirs work with HID's? It's still not an HID projector.

BTW, recon's quality is some of the worst I've seen. I have some of their lighting on my truck. Including cab lights (which have moisture in them), their mirror side lights (which have horrible alignment, and whistle at high speeds), and their interior lights (which seemed to have a mind of their own for the first few months of ownership).

I've heard of single LED bulbs burning out in their tail lights and they will not warranty them.

Well since they give you an option on there website for the lights to come with HID's, I just assumed they worked better. I love the look of my spyders but the visibility is just horrible. I drive with my brights on and no one even seems to notice, my buddy had the same cheap HID's I have in his stock housing and they where 10x brighter. Im just going to back to stock head lights because I cant stand the not being able to see at night.

I don't think that HID lights would burn up the lights, because I am also using HID lights from 2 years. And I don't have any problem like this.

just put a set of spyders in my 00 ram. they look great but when u ajust them so there is no gap the lights point at the ground. when i adjust them so the lights pattern is right there is a 1 inck gap at the fender:argh:
