ram sub idea's

well some else thought my sub and amp would work better in there car.......so i am in the market to replace them. i am wondering what people have done in the third gen quad cabs. i am seeing alot under the rear seats, but i don't think that i want to do that on account that the kids sit over them, or has anyone done this and had people sit over them without driving them insaine. it don't need to be much, i am happy with a simple 10 inch or so. i am just really looking for idea's. thanks in advance.

I have 2 10's under my rear seat and all I know is every time someone is back there I have to shut the bass off 100% cause it's too much for them. I'm actually gonna take em out soon and get rid of em.

thanks that is what info i am looking for, i figured it would be uncomfortable to ride over, my old one was between the two rows and sometimes that would get annoying on my back.

I'm guessing your talking a sealed box? If your just looking to enhance the overall sound, a molded box with a JL in it would be prime.

not sure if i am talking about a sealed box? i just want a little boom in my tunes not shake the fillings out of the car next to me is all i am looking for. what i am really trying to acomplish, is to replace the speaker, and the position it is in. i am planing for the future of the family for when the kids start to get bigger and start to reach the floor with thier kicking feet and stomping around, not to damage the speaker or box. i would really only want to have to do this once and forget about it for the life of the speaker/truck.

Maybe you should really have a look at the JL site. Those stealth boxes aren't cheap, but they offer some advantages you won't miss:

- completely hidden
- no speaker surfaces which can be damaged
- good quality speakers

I use a rebuilt of their stealthbox in my Jeep, because they discontinued it.
I don't have any space loss due to it's good concept. The space volume used for the JL speaker is great- its only a 10" sealed box, but it delivers a good punch if needed.
Its neither visible or comparable with those annoying cheap boom boxes.
I use it with a Phoenix Gold Bass CUBE. So I can adjust the intensity with a simple turn from the dash.
A 150 W rms amp is more than enough for me.

I have a sealed box which is completly hidden but the fact is.....EVERYONE that sits in the back hates it. It sounds bitchen up front but the rear just has too much bass. If it was me I'd only do a single 10 or even an 8. It doesn't take much to fill the sound out IMO. It's to the point I just turn the amp off when someone is riding in the back. My box is an MTX(I think) powered by a Planet Audio 900w mono (again, I think) amp.

great idea's guys, i was looking around and i thought if i could find one of those boxes for just one 8 that would be prime i think. and then get one of those switches you are talking about. most times when the family is with the radio is all but off anyhow. not sure what i am going to do. i found out the other night that i need to replace my head unit too. he jambed a screw driver in to try and get it out and bent the top all up now i can't eject my cd's or change the anything but the volume.

900W:nshock:
Thats a 70 A draw!

Cumminsdad, did you thought about kick bass speakers in your doors? Those 6 1/2" speakers deliver a good "kick" around 100Hz up to 200Hz.

If you aren't interested in "mega" sub punch a small supplemental sub will be enough.
A closed sub will deliver a clearer, deeper going bass. The ported subs deliver a louder, but not that deep punch.
That should help you to make decisions.:hellox:

Cool, that you think about your family! I hate it to drive with someone having a sub turned on. I'm not able to follow conversation then.
