12" kicker solo-baric L7

im thinkin about puttin a 12" L7 in my 06 dodge quad cab... does anyone know what would be a good amp(or amps) to power them? or does anyone suggest going with another type of sub? i dont wanna spend a fortune but i do want it to be loud

coyropin 04-03-2010 04:54 AM

find out the watts for the speaker ive had rockford fosgate amps sony and many others but rockford out lasted all

LawnScum 04-03-2010 08:21 AM

thats a good sub. had one in my old truck. i had the jL audio 500-1 and i never turned the amp more then half way.

Kickers are really nice if you give them a big enough ported box.

Kicker amps are pretty reasonably priced, hifonics are a decent cheap amp as well.

i have an alpine pdx 600.1 powering a single L7 in my boat. with the right box the setup sounds good. if i was to redo the system i'd go with alpine pdx 1000.1.

the alpine pdx line of amps are real small, digital, low heat profile, and supple plenty of clean power.

I put an Alpine 1000.1 in my sons truck as well . sounds great and has lived up to his abuse .

jpav161 04-16-2010 08:45 PM

i run a rockford punch 45 signature series with 2 kicker comp vr 12's and it hits hard its put a dent in my roof and that amp is fairly cheap :rocking:

The L7 sounds great but if you get it get a probox superbass box itll make it hit alot harder. Amp wise rockford fosgate are the best in my opinion they last and make any sub hit!! also the hypnotic zen series 15" sub hits insane nt my buddys dually with just a 1000 watt fosgate amp.

Got the RF Power t500.1 and beat the hell out of it.
As for the sub im a little weary of the square design looks like it would fail.

for the money, the L7 is one hell of a sub.

short of attaching some POS amp to the sub, i'd be floored if you blew it!

I have been running an L7 12" for about 8 years now in a sealed Q-logic box, sounds as good as it did the day I installed it.:rocking:Here is the box:http://www.qlogicdirect.com/index.ph...products_id=21

My amp of choice is an older Pheonix Gold ZX 250 wired mono.

I am seriously considering an upgrade to the new Alpine amps, have always been a fan but they didn't have what I was looking for when I put this system together. This is what I am looking at now:http://signature.crutchfield.com/s_5...tp=35834&avf=N

JL 13in w7 is the only way to go!!! on the sub side of things... and the amp JL 500-1 like stated above!

Bosshawg600 06-09-2010 02:58 PM

I have 2 12" L5's with a Hyphonics 750w 1500RMS Amp and its not even close to getting these subs hitting like they should!!!

With 1 L7 a 750w amp would be ok, but if your running 2 12's go with AT LEAST a 1000w RMS amp!!!!

Oh and just because the stuff is cheaper.......Its not anywere near the quality of the more expensive amps!!!!!!

Delray2009 06-11-2010 12:46 AM

The L7 is a great sub. I recently put two of them in a durango r/t and they rocked. The only thing is that they require alot of space, and for our trucks, I would say that there too much sub for the general person on here. I would personally go with some Kicker solo classic's. But if u were set on them I would personally pair it up with a 10ZX7501. Kicker under rates their amps so this one would come with a "birth sheet" of about 800 watts rms whch would be plenty. for that matter you could even use a 10ZX5001 without having to worry about hurting the sub.

Scoprius 06-27-2010 08:40 PM

For the money and minor differences between the L5's and L7's other wattage and motor design, I've never seen a justification for buying an L7 over an L5 unless your going to overpower them to burp out as much bass as possible. There are many other options in the same price range or lower that hammer just as hard with clear sound, Exile XPe12D, JL 10W7, Hifonics atlas square 12" are the only ones I've heard in person though. I personally love Exile and JL but they aren't the best out there there just well known, build good products, and actually honor their warranty above and beyond what I would have ever expected. Kicker does as well they've replaced blown subs free of charge on many occations, and one amp zx1000 that got water damaged.

pipeliner1000 08-13-2010 02:31 AM

one t1 10inch over any amount of l7s lol

jdog78 08-13-2010 11:00 PM

My 12" L7 would rock my world. If I can give you one piece of advice for it, get a SuperBass Probox for a 12" L7. The lows will be ungodly clean and undistorted.

The speaker is rated at 1500 Max, 750 RMS, so as long as you are hitting at least 500, you shouldnt have any problems at all.

My L7 had 4 ohm DVC's run in parallel to bring it down to 2 ohms, running to an Infinity Mono Class D amp putting out 657 watts RMS @ 2 ohms. I got the amp from Woofers Etc. for a little over $150 and it powered the L7 pretty well. A Kicker 500.1 or 750.1 would be the best but more expensive.

Next system I get will be a 15" L7 in a ProBox again with a Kicker 1000.1

ehaze 09-20-2010 11:22 AM

i have an extra 12" L7 if someone is looking for one.

thing has been sitting in my garage for a year.

originally purchased two of them thinking i'd keep one as a spare, just in case i blew one. a year later and the one in my boat is still holding strong.

cowboyford16 09-20-2010 11:50 AM

how much for the L7 ehaze?

ehaze 09-20-2010 12:43 PM

the sub has been used but works perfectly.

$100 and buyer pays shipping.

greyhound might be the best way to ship given the weight of the sub.

AdrianD 09-21-2010 02:35 PM

If you pack it well I don't see problems using shipping companies.
My most recent sub weighed around 60lbs, packed very well, went from LA to NY by UPS with no problems :)
