Put up an album of my stereo system
Hello everybody,
Finally got around to putting an album together to show off my brother's creation for my '02 Dodge. Stereo Picture Album https://www.dieselbombers.com/member...ts-forward.jpg I was a stereo fanatic back in High School and gave the bug to my brother some 20 years ago. He really got into it and was even going to open his own shop before the economy took a dive. Now he just builds these for himself and luckily a couple for me over the last few years. Also had a full enclosure in the back of my 04 Dakota Quad cab before I got my diesel rig: 2004 Dodge Dakota Quad Cab Stereo Installation This one was almost a year in the making between getting the funds together to Jerry doing the work when he could make time in addition to his regular job. It came out awesome though! Hope to maybe get to the Bomb party tomorrow to meet everyone and pick up some good tips for my truck. Enjoy! Greg |

Nice pics. And welcome :c: |
Each sub amp (4 of 'em) is 600 watts and the two mid/tweet amps are 750. That puts the
total at just shy of 4000. These old Kicker amps actually put out more than they are rated for and they're bullet proof. I can run it as loud as I can physically stand for some time and the amps never even get warm. I'm running two more batteries inside the box to help out with power consumption, but I still run the truck while I'm listening. Believe me, with the sound proofing and the volume, you don't hear it :rocking: It doesn't go quite as low as my Dakota did with the single 15", but the impact of the four 10" JL W7's is enough to rattle your ribcage pretty good :s: I did run into a problem with my remote start one time though. Remote started the truck while I was in the house and the stereo was left on. All we can figure is that the delay for the remote start was timed just about the same delay as the stereo coming on and when the truck started it sucked all the voltage and caused a big spike in the amperage. By the time I got out to the truck, one amplifier was smoking and as we found out later by testing, it blew up 5 of the 6 amps. $180 in shipping costs and close to $400 in repairs later, everything is back in and running great again. Needless to say, I don't remote start the truck anymore and always shut the stereo off before starting the truck. The subs were spared in the meltdown, thank goodness. The problem when you go big like this, when something goes wrong, it goes wrong BIG :scare2: |
Welcome Swifty,
Do you still use those 150 Amp breakers? In germany they claim a faulty disconnect and a high resistance about those automatic fuses. They tell to use those ANL fuses. What do you think about it? I thought it would be a cool idea to use those quick disconnect breakers to disconnect the second battery bank that I use to drive the Webasto engine heater during the winter. As I saw that amp rack and the JL speakers I had a smile about the output question. Lets describe it in a british way: sufficient!:tu: |
