Sound System?

Who has 4 door 3rd gen with speaker boxes? Any Pictures would be great. I want some speakers but it looks like little room under the back seat.

bway1341 04-22-2007 06:59 PM

I have a JL Audio stealth box in mine. I am very pleased with the performance. I gave up the rear folding underseat storage thing for it and am happy with it.

Here is what mine looks like.

Longhorn 04-22-2007 07:51 PM

That looks pretty cool...The mega has a huge space behind the seats, would sure make things a whole lot easier...you could fit some huge boxes in there...

Hut 04-22-2007 08:11 PM

Hey Longhorn, they make stealth boxes for those too. Pricey but hard to beat for quality.

Longhorn 04-22-2007 08:19 PM

Now that is way cool...How big of an amp would I need to run to power it??? Any Idea??

Hut 04-22-2007 08:33 PM

Well it has a pair of 10W6V2-D4 so I'm thinking anything 500watt rms or better should make your ears bleed.

Longhorn 04-22-2007 08:55 PM

Hmmm...might have to look into that...I havent played with a sound system since I was a kid

Hut 04-22-2007 09:04 PM

I pretty much had to upgrade my system. When I bought it, it only had the bottom of the barrel 4 speaker set up (all Low grade stuff). Wish I had more room but the stealthbox that fits the QC really does sound nice.

bway1341 04-22-2007 09:09 PM

thanks

Longhorn 04-22-2007 09:10 PM

I have the top of the line system, but the bass is still weak...likely because of the enourmous cap space...its like a nightclub in there...lol

Hut 04-22-2007 09:23 PM

I see a 1000W amp and a disco-ball in your future...

I grabbed a mtx thunderform box for my truck off of ebay a while back, ran it with a rockford fosgate amp for a year before I wanted more........ swapped the mtx sub to JL audio 10w3's sounded better, finally got around to swappin the rockford to a JL audio 500/1 mono sub amp and will never look back..... to do it again I would go after a higher end empty box designed for 12" subs, then add a pair of 12" JL subs and possibly go to the extreme of a 1000/1 amp. the 500/1 is plenty of power, but who ever said thats enough and meant it ? Lots of sub boxes on ebay, just try to get a better quality one, thicker wood for better control, plan ahead for mounting depth and you will be good to go. Great spot to mount the amp is under passenger front seat, gotta take the seat part way out to put it in, and anyone else w sticky fingers will have one helluva time gettin it out due to not being able to remove mounting bolts with the seat in the way.

i have 2 memphis 12's i was gonna stuff under the back seat but i have note done it yet. i found a few pre made boxes on the net but i have never heard one in person. anyone have any exsperance with these? i think i saw them on e-bay stores but it has been a while.

2500HeavyDuty 04-11-2008 01:11 AM

i got 2 12's under my rear seats and a 3000 watt amp behind it :)

BigGreenMonster 04-11-2008 02:13 AM

duramax... never seen the inside of a duramax. i bet they have more space than a 3rd gen quad cab.

2500HeavyDuty 04-11-2008 10:11 AM

i got a ext. cab (cab and half) and it feel as big as a 3rd gen quad cab.

Theres nothing under the rear bench, and theres like 8 inches of clearance down there. makes enough room for what i got.
