Default possible fuel troubles? shop cant figure out whats wrong...

Was driving the truck for a few hours so it was nice and warm. Had been towing a trailer around 3000 pounds for maybe a hour before hand. Truck is stock besides intake and 4inch exhaust. No codes have been set. After dropping the trailer off, and proceeding to get on the highway the truck started to bog real hard around 40-50 and would come back to life then surge down again... any thoughts. please help!

When was the last time the fuel filter was changed?

It is possible your VP44 is failing due to poor fuel supply. A fuel pressure gauge and aftermarket lift pump are key components to keeping these fuel systems working properly.

Ya sounds like a fuel issue. Either clogged filter, lift pump going bad, or ip starting to go bad.

I am with Ryan on this. Change your filter and get a fuel pressure gauge on it asap so you know what your lift pump pressure is at. If it is the lift pump failing you can damage or take your injection pump out in a hurry.

A bad fuel filter will cause the symptoms you are describing. You will loose high speed power, until you just end up plugged up on the side of the road. either way a air dog will take care of it. add a fuel pressure gauge while doing the air dog.
