Turbo with no wastegate
I recently put a new turbo from ats on my 95 cummins and when i put it on i saw it had no wastegate is this bad the turbo is on the truck and is ment for it but i was wondering if it matters
I am sure someone else can give you a better answer but here is mine. Running with no wastegate is no big deal. Just make sure you watch the boot gauge so you dont over spool your turbo. I along with many others have run turbos with the gates welded shut. Wastegates help to keep your turbo operating at the ideal pressure. Different turbos have different maps so one gate might open at 30psi and another at 60psi. Also fill out your signature so we can give you better answers that are usefull to your truck and mods you have.
