Default My truck is a Turd

Hi all
I have a 99 2500 Cummins and its a turd. I determined this after driving an Identical truck with no mods and more miles and it actually had power like a cummins should.
How can I tell if my turbo is bad?

do I need to install a boost gauge or is there an easier way.
Could be injectors but the truck runs really smooth, it just doesn't have any go to it. what else could be wrong?

also I've put 40k on the truck and it just rolled over 200k

you should have gauges in it no matter what. Do you have a good lift pump on it? could be a weak vp44 could be injectors could be boost leak.

Try a valve adjustment, monitor your fuel pressure because too little of fuel pressure can cause a doggy feeling And low pressure will damage your ip. You can pull the intake elbow off the turbo and check the shaft for play or look for a bad boot. Clogged fuel and/or air filter will dog you too. Wastegate could be stuck open. Bad injectors.

I recommend getting a fuel pressure gauge on the truck and a boost And egt gauge as they can help identify issues. Get a lift pump on there from aftermarket. And start with the little cheap things to start trouble shooting. Valve adjustment is a easy project to handle in a weekend although it shoukdnt take but an hour to do. Fuel pressure is a huge concern on these trucks so id get going there as soon as possible. There are lots of things that can cause a sluggish truck, just have to start trouble shooting.
