tranny temp?
hey guys, today i got an sunpro guage idk what exactly it is but it reads from 100-250* i was wondering if i can use it for a tranny temp guage? and i also need to know where i can put the probe? i have a auto 3 speed with od anybody know?
It comes out the driver side of the trans goes over and up to the trans cooler/warmer on the side of the block the temp sender is on the line that crosses over to go to the passenger side

The temperature that the sensitive transmission components see is the pan temperature.
The temperature that the fluid and converter sees is in the outlet line.
In general, towing and high duty-cycle applications want the sensor in the pan. Drag-racing, power-breaking, low duty-cycle applications are better with it in the outlet line.

I have mine in the line, before i went on a long trip to the mountains my fluid smelled fine, after i got back ( and i saw some temp spikes of 230*-250* for a very short time) my fluid smelled like i hade burned the garbage in it.
i have two trans coolers and fixin to put on a third with a fan and t-stat, plus a double through double poll toggle and put another temp sensor in the pan just to see how well my cooling system is working.
here is what i was hauling on the trip.
