Hi all,

I changed my fuel filter a few weeks ago and the truck was fine with no leaks. Recently it started leaking where the WIF sensor screws into the fuel filter. I took the filter back off, changed the Oring between the WIF and filter and put it all back together.

The WIF seems to be threading on with very little friction until it bottoms out.

No other part of the filter is getting wet, so I'm fairly postitive its the connection between the WIF and the filter. I am getting about a drip every 6 seconds with the truck running, no drips with the truck off(atleast the starter where it's dripping onto was dry the next morning). The truck does seem to be loosing prime after sitting over night as it takes excessive cranking to start now, where it use to just be a turn of the key.

1. Am I able to teflon tape the WIF and then pipedope the threads also to make sure its getting a proper seal since it seems to not get any friction before bottoming out, or what would be the recommended fix here?


2. Is the fact that the truck has an air leak there enough for the truck to be loosing prime? Or do I have more troubleshooting once the WIF leak is fixed?

I wonder if the sensor is cracked or somthing, otherwise I'd think an o-ring would fix it.

 

It should thread in easy until you hit the o ring. Might just need a new one like tireman said.

 

I'll try grabbing another O-ring, I just replaced the Oring with a new one the other day and it didn't solve it though. Thinking either the WIF is cracked or possibly the filter itself is cracked.

If another O-ring doesn't solve it I figure ill just get a filter with no WIF port. Mine hasn't been plugged in since i bought the truck anyway. Previous owner had one of the 2 wires ripped out of the WIF and just hanging there.

The WIX 33391 should fit and has a drain plug at the bottom. The napa 3395 shuld also work but has no drain plug.
