From what I have read they are pretty stout trannys. What year do you want? I just bought and 04 f250 lariat 4x4 with 147k for $12000. Not bad in my book. The drive home felt good, I'll need to do some minor front end work and replace all the fluids but I'm pretty satisfied so far.

There are a lot of things to look for.

What are your plans for the truck? Grocery getter? DD? Just going to put a tune on and be done?

The 5R110 is one of the best autos going for a diesel 3/4 or 1 ton truck. The key to making it live with more power, is correct tuning. This means SCT tuner with custom tunes from a reputable tuner. These trannies are holding up behind the 6.4's with almost 600 rwhp. They will take anything you can throw at it tune wise. A hot tune fora 6.0 should net around 420-430rwhp. Just read around here a bit, you'll learn real quick what you need to look out for. We can tell you too, just need more info about your plans for the truck.

Ill use it for driving two to three days a week some moderate pulling including mountain passes. I would like good power for smokin the average ricer and pullin. But dont plan on much more than possibly injectors. No headstuds or turbo. I like a standard and it would b prefered but i have yet to find a king ranch stick for sale. Sct was a thought or what about efi live i think its called

No efi live for 6.0's, SCT with custom tunes is the way to go.

Injectors but no studs or turbo? Why?

Sct is the efi live/smarty you are used to in the cummins world.

Hopefully I can sell my 03 so the parts can get on order for my superduty
