Map Sensor Going Bad?
Hey guys,
2000 CTD I updated SIG but it didnt load.
First post on here, but i also am on CumminsForum.
My truck acts kinda weird at times, At times it is normal and smokes well and all the power is there, but sometimes when i start it the truck seems like it has less power and wont smoke well. I have been thinking that it is the map sensor going south on me. Might just beed a cleaning. I think this becasue the map sensor might not be seeing all the bost that the turbo is actually making, around 27psi, and isnt dumping fuel when it is supposed to, My FP is good with around 15 and 13-14 WOT.
What do you guys think it could be.
Mike

My truck did the same thing and my map sensor checked out to be good. I took my box off the truck ran fine we put the box back on and has ran fine since then. So if your map sensor checks fine take your box off to see if you have the same problem. Over on compd they have a thread going about this same issue and its all people with edge box's, they have tried lots of different things and edge is seems to be helping them.

you dont have to be building boost do get a correct reading if the map sensor is bad then it will show its bad.

well i replaced the box, i had the Superchip Dbox on there and then i switched to the Van Aaken, and actually the comp isnt installed on my truck yet seeing that its in for trans work. But it hasnt cured itself and i have no codes.
I had the same exact symptoms as your having but I did have a check engine light and a map sensor code. I say just check your map sensor and see what your getting. If I remember right a map sensor from auto zone is around $100.00.
Can get one online for 40 bucks...
