I want to know the very hottest the trans fluid gets so I have mine in the hot line out of the tranny to the coolers.

Its a very common spot, and you will be measuring the temperature of the fluid going into your transmission. Not a bad thing at all.
When I install my Aux Trans cooler, I will be installing 2 gauges. Fluid out of the transmission to the coolers will be measured by the probe supplied with the EJWA, and read on the Attitude monitor. Fluid from the coolers entering the transmission will be read on my Auto-Meter gauge. A little excessive, but then I have an idea of cooler efficiency.

I think this is the best deal of all and intend to do the same with mine when I change pans.
