03 dodge belt squeeks when i turn motor off?

Default 03 dodge belt squeeks when i turn motor off?

last week i replaced by serpentine belt and now when i go to shut it off it makes a loud embarrassing squeek ive checked everything all looks good would it be i need to replace my self adjusting tensioner???

IIRC this can be as simple as the belt stopping before the motor has completely stopped. Or vice versa...It shouldn't hurt anything.

that is perfectly normal. my truck does it whenever it shuts off too. its because when you shut your truck off, everything that is rotating(crank,pistons,alternator,fan) Everything stops instantly because of the ammount of compresion the engine makes. do not worry about it, its normal

I believe Genos has a one way clutched pulley you install on your alternator. I do miss that trademark Cummins belt chirp.

I believe a Goodyear Gatorback belt will cure your chirp.

A few seconds of WD-40 while running makes it go away for a little while.

My 01 has does it from day I bought it. My 06 doesn't do it.

My 2000 has done it since the day I bought it(on it's 3rd belt now), I believe what happens is the engine shuts down instantly(like stated above) and the fan has some momentum built up and can't stop that quick.

Changing to a GoodYear Gatorback Belt WILL cure it. cured it on my 01, cured it on a friends 04, and on another friends 06.
