I've got a 99 with the 5 speed. After 8 years of owning it, I had the 5th gear problem. Took it to a mechanic to have it fixed. Here's the problem, the mechanic says as you start through the gears at about 3rd it seems to go into reverse. Has this ever happened to anyone or anyone ever hear of this? Thanks in advanced for any info.

 

Seems to go? Meant to say that gear was in reverse rotation, and when you went to 3rd, it cause back lash, jarring the nut a little?

 

Thank's for replying. That's the mechanics words not mine, I have not seen it yet. Said it seemed like it was stuck between 2 gears,3rd and reverse. I drove it there in 4th and didn't have any problems. Could it be something they did?
