a friend gave me a Diablo Predator that he purchased for his '07 6.0L. He didn't use it because he was still in warranty. I would think that I would be able to download programs from Diablo's website but I don't know the first thing about these things. I'd appreciate any input you experienced guys would have for me.

 

Sell it and get something safer for your truck, that also makes more power and will actually tune your trans. Like an SCT with custom tunes. I would advise to NOT use the predator.

Is your biggest concern that the Predator doesn't also tune the tranny or is it generally a POS? My truck is a DD and I'm mostly looking for something that will improve my fuel economy. Are there programmers that you would recommend for that application?

 

SCT, custom tunes. Custom tunes as in, you can get whatever and exactly what you want. They will build a tune however you want it man.

The predator is a "generic" tuner. It does NOT tune the trans, which is known to kill them quick, and they more or less trick the PCM into adding extra fuel and timing, but it's not controlled very well. You will have fuel spraying way outside of the bowl, and it will increase cylinder pressures tremendously.

I would call up Innovative Diesel, tell them you want an X-3 and get yourself some good tunes. You may be surprised to know that the highest horsepower programs offer the best mileage, IF you can keep your foot out of it.

The key to our transmissions living a long life is GOOD tuning.

 

I used Edge for a few years, now I'm on SCT, it's worlds apart, the custom tunes are much better than generic, one size fits all that Edge, and I'm sure Diablo too, offer.
