Default hard start and restart

About 4 months ago the truck started to have loss of power for about 5 mins after a cold start. I wasnt driving it much so I didnt worry about it. About a week ago I thought Id take a look. The stock lift pump didnt sound very good. I decided Id change it out with the FASS. Now its hard to start. When I do get it started and warmed up it runs good. But if I turn it off and imediately try to crank it back on its hard to restart. Any ideas?

How will that help an already warm engine to restart?

The VP44 may be on its way out. Hard starts is a symptom of cracked diaphragm inside the VP44. Does the FASS run as soon as the key is turned on? It should only run for a second, then turn off until the engine is running. Another thing to check would be the pressure regulating valve in the return port of VP44. If it is stuck open, fuel if free to return to tank and won't be held in the VP44. Do you have a fuel pressure gauge? It is a very, very good idea on these trucks. If you do have one, what is the pressure while cranking and running?

There is a 0 pressure reading while cranking. If I tap the starter and let the pump run the reading goes up to 20.

Before I replaced the lift pump the codes were p0463 fuel level sending unit condition and p1693 tachometer circuit fault. The truck started up fine before I replaced the pump. Would the IP fail after making such a change? To me this wouldnt make sense, but I know very little about this. I thought that it was something I did in the installation of the fass.
