Is 173,263 miles a lot for a 12 valve?

 

i have 301,000 and no blowby.

 

my sons truck had a head gasket done at 300 k and cyls still were ver good shape.

 

Our plow truck(95 2wd dually) has 385k and still going, my 95 has 174k

 

mine has 302,000 and still going strong, no signs of weakness

 

Hah, the cross hatches are probably still visible at 170k. Most don't consider the engine broken in until 100k plus

how does the 2wd plow? how much weight do u put in it?

 

my cousin has a 96 cummins with 550000 and has only put a shift kit in it

 

Mines got 312,000 and we just took the head off to do studs gasket and such and had the head rebuilt. The guy at the machine shop asked how many miles were on it cause it looked to be low mileage and was just wondering.....his face was priceless when I told him over 300,000. Oh, and the cross hatches are still visible.

 

316k heads never been off. Take care of it and it will take care of you well over 800k barring any catastrophic meltdowns
