Default Turbo might be dying?

K i am very upset at my truck. I was running the edge juice w/att platinum and wanted a little more power ( of course), so i have been lookin on here and everyone with a 6.0 has the sct. So i found a good deal on a x3 and picked it up, then called vivian and got the looney tune. So i wanted to see how it ran and my buddy has almost the same truck with only a edge juice with attitude, and he stayed next to me. and i have tons more mods then him. Just a side note i can only build at full throttle not under a load is around 18 psi. under a load around 25..... any thoughts?????

whens the last time you cleaned it?
Any odd noises.
Reason I'm asking, The unison ring was siezed up in my turbo. 20 psi was my max at wide open throttle. took it apart and cleaned it and bang, I was pushing over twenty and lag was reduced by a long shot. Then sct came along and that little needle went alittle far.

Hard to tell without any more information... We know nothing about your truck.

What other mods do you have?

Your "way more mods" than him really doesn't equate to any more power. I guess you could pick up a little power with the water/meth, but probably not enough to make a huge difference.

What are the two trucks in question? As in, what cab/bed configuration, both 4x4? both autos'? Both running same gearing and same size tires?

The older Edge units were pretty close power wise to the SCT's back in the day, however they just ate transmissions like no one's business. So the newer Edge models they toned the power down to save the trannies.

You can also try a few other tuners as well. I never had much luck with Vivians tunes, as far as shifting goes. However, I know quite a few people have her tunes and love them. Not trying to knock Vivian in any way, but not every tune and every truck will be the same.

Here's how to clean the turbo, it does need to be pulled out of the truck and taken apart, but it's actually not that difficult. More time consuming than anything... DTS Articles - Turbocharger Reconditioning

I was pegging 28~30 psi with my Edge Platinum. I liked Edge until I learned that they decided to no longer service the older systems with CS/CTS being out. I have since gone SCT (see the pattern?) and have Innovative Diesel tunes.

The Aggressive street feels like the old "Hot" (Level 6) setting. I'll either be getting a Quadzilla Pulse or Bully Dog Watchdog monitor next.

I've pegged my 35psi gauge a few times with my x-race tune on...

both are 4 door short bed, 4x4, both runnin 35" tires both automatic and same year and same gearing 3.73.. his has like 46,000 miles and mine has 97,000 miles... it builds boots but won't boost past like 21 psi in any gear but 5th. 5th i can get it up around 27ish. when i shut it down it makes a light grinding noise. but i have no shaft play... could i be losing a bearing. some 6.0's i have heard like 06 and that whine a little as the truck is shut off.

When I run WOT even on my xtreme tunes I'm usually only at low 20's for boost. It really only builds a lot of boost when you roll into it with the converter locked.

You could be losing boost somewhere though, they do sound a TOUCH low. I would check the up-pipes first, they're known to crack and leak. Look for sure signs of a leakage (black soot caking up). I would also recommend removing ALL of the intercooler boots and going over those with a fine tooth comb.
