Tappet Cover, Foam??
I was stripping my engine down today, finally took off the last piece, the injection pump, and Im going to paint it tomorrow. I was looking at the tappet cover and there is a foam piece going over it. Its all hard and curled up towards the front. I was thinking about just tossing it and leaving it off. I dont know if its there to keep heat off the fuel pump or sound. Or if its even necessary..
Any ideas or thoughts?
Thanks!

its weird they only put a noise buffer on one side.
there just for noise and yes there is a slight difference on a "stock quiet" truck kinda makes a little tick if i were you i would ditch it there a PITA brake clean and baking soda works great for getting all the sticky crap off
