Default All rmp's no go

When i take off with my truck i can give it about half throttle and it goes up to about 1700 rpms and it slowly takes off, im afraid this is wasting a lot of diesel and it isnt cheap! last time i checked i was only getting about 12 mpgs with stock everything! the injector pump is turned up a little bit, can someone help me please if i turned the pump back down would i get better mpgs and would that affect how slow it takes off? or is it slow cus its so much weight?

welcome to a stock auto transmission. mine did that and eventually would have to get to about 2100 before it would pull and would hold 3000 everytime it would shift and not change RPM.... but that was after a couple years of abuse.

depending on your mileage and the condition of the fluid you might can get away with a good converter and a valve body, if the fluid looks DARK and the mileage is high you might want to look into a full rebuild. but when you rebuild, look for a GOOD converter and valve body, on these parts you get what you pay for, cheaper is not better.....

I got a full built Goerend tranny as far as i can tell the thing seems to be unbreakable.By the time you buy tc and valve body have someone install it you are taking a big chance with a lot money.

I know the trannies been rebuilt i just dont know how well, when i put it in gear though the truck bumps forward slightly and when i let off the gas it does this also, i have to get up to about 1800-2000 rpms to accelerate at a decent speed.

I would take it to a good shop and have the solenoid pack scanned. But most likely its the TC if its slipping.I dont know it all but i have seen a lot of guys go the route of piecing together there trannys valve bodies ect.A month latter it breaks the money they spent is gone plus buying a new one anyway.A good valebody and TC will cost $2,300 plus labor.

sounds like it was rebuilt with a STOCk converter, they are the problem the trannies burn up, so that is why i wander why a tranny builder will replace a converter with stock junk....
