Default tranny hesitation

my A518 in my 93' does nothing when you first put in drive or reverse when its cold upon start up, then when you give it throttle it shutters slightly while getting going. after that its all good the rest of the time im driving it. It does take more than normal throttle to get it going at first also (even more than the normal worthless non lock up take off) and it is full of fluid and tranny temp gauge always reads cool. could this be fixed with band adjustment?

I second a band adjustment.

This is a common situation with the A518. The manual valve does not allow fluid flow through the torque converter or cooling lines while in park. Perfectly normal. It is remedied with a very cheap manual valve that allow flow. What you have is converter drainback.

sounded like drain back to me too, band adjustment could still do a world of good. simple enough; before you drive anywhere skip right to neutral momentarily then down into drive. get the juices moving before trying to go anywhere.

Yep, tranny draining, common. Nothing to worry about.

Buddy has dtt trans and convertor they recomend starting it in neutral. Maybe thats why my trans seems to take so much fluid at filter fluid change?
