Want to switch my new 06 5.9 to better oil
I like the Rotella, it look like it get dirty slower than the other oil I try. I check some review on the net and they all say that it's a good brand. The 5.9 take around 12 liters. I use it in my tractor to.
I use 8 quarts of rotela and 4 quarts of Lucas oil stabilizer. I also put a pint of seafoam I the crankcase and run it for a 50 miles or so, that really seems to get the old oil to drain well. I've got about 170k and still going strong!
I ran the Rotella and found this webpage and after reading it I changed for my last oil change that I did a week ago. Not sure on any benifits but figured it couldn't hurt..not to ruin anyones reading I want with the #2 result. Here is the link if you care to read it Turbo Diesel Register Tech: Lube Oil, Religion, Specifications and the TDR
I look at the result of the test, I found other test that saying different stuff but you never now who work for who so if a brand work for you use it. My truck run on Retella since I have it, is close to 300 000 miles, the only part part i change (out of brake and stuff like that) on it is the priming pump, I uprade it for a AirDog. Have a nice day.
