k i went to my dads yesterday to help him with his truck and he said his truck was pulling hard right when he hit the brakes. So we took the front tires off to inspect the fronts they look fine (about 50%) and evenly worn so then we romoved all the fluid out of the cylinder cause it was old and black and probly original 120xxx miles. So after we got fresh brake fluid in we proceded to bleed the brakes got some air but not much but anyways this did not fix the problem. SO im thinking it could be a proportioning valve or the rears have no pad left (we did not inspect the rears) and its sending to much fluid to the rear, also the parking brake does not work. Just wondering what you guys think we sould check or if its a common problem. THANKS DB

 

Check the front right caliper for play. Sometimes the bushings can be worn and the caliper can twist slightly and bind up causing it to pull.

Make sure the left caliper is actually clamping down tight when your on the brakes. If one caliper is weaker than the other the truck will always pull towards the stronger side.

 

Does it pulse when braking? A warped disc will do that and sometimes pull to that side. If you have to replace the caliper, replace the brake line as well, the inside of the brake line can break down over time. If a small piece of the inner liner breaks free, it can prevent the fluid from returning to the master cylinder causing the brake to stay tight, and that will cause major problems. I learned the hard way, replaced the caliper and left the old brake line. Caused the brake to drag, cooked the bearing and warped the rotor. Surprised the damn thing didn't catch fire.
