Default no crank 06 6.0 ideas?

2006 F-350 6.0 auto amarillo. It died when I was pulling up a hill under a load with the banks big hoss on it, 3 secounds before it died my gauges went crazy then trans slipped out of gear and reved up. I went to start it and it didnt crank...the glow plugs didnt warm up either and the batterys are good and new everything works on the truck it just wont turn over. I removed the banks 6 gun. I can jump the silinoid and it turns over fine but wont start. I also put it in neutral and still nothing. i replaced the ecm with used one and the same story. Any ideas? Thanks

Sounds more like a harness issue or a corrupt chip/programmer/tuner whatever you want to call it.

Banks chip you say? I dont know how many trucks ive replaced ficms and pcms for due to thier banks set up. no other chip has the issues that banks does.

PCM is what you replaced? Thats mounted on the drivers side fender behind the battery? Take your chip out, if its the one that runs a jumper harness from the PCM to the ficm throw that worthless thing in the garbage youll be doing yourself a favor!

Unfortunatley a reprogram isnt available after market for these yet, believe me ive tried with snap ons pass through at private shops and end up not being able to do it....

Usually when the gauges go bad like the tach drops dead, along with speedo and fuel voltage oil pressure etc its a communications failure. You can do that with IDS/VCM plugged in and hit a good pot hole and have it wiggle the VCM cable lose.

If it is a communications failure, you will have a ton of U B and P codes.

Oh as for your PCM if you swapped one from say a junk yard truck, it wont start unless you got the key to that truck it came out of. PATS is a bitch. keeps independent shops and side jobs out of doing module installations.

Did you ever find out what it was because I ran in to same problem. Just did an egr delete on an 06 powerstroke and ran good for a cpl days then driving back from parts store and truck just dies no crank no fuel pump kicking on. I have power to everything I can force the starter relay to kick on but the starter doesn't kick out. And when truck died said check gage.

HI,

This may sound too simple but I had the same problem Friday. After a $150 tow job to a safe place I called Banks for help. The answer was to check the fuse to the engine control module (ECM in my 04 Excursion it was fuse #22).

Replaced the fuse, it started up just as nothing had happened.
