04.5 cummins need to change the front ujoint... Do I need to pull the front axle out?? What seals need to be replaced?

 

I have the same truck and i replaced the front u-joint about 2 yrs ago. i didnt have to pull the axles or anything and i just replaced the rear seal of the pumkin. hope this helps

 

Which "front" u-joint...the u-joint on the driveshaft, or the steering knuckle u-joint in the axle?

If its the knuckle joint, both the wheel unit-bearing and axle shaft need pulled to replace those joints. If one u-joint is bad, chances are the other is soon to follow. If the axle seal isn't leaking before you pull the axle shaft, chances are (if your are careful) it wouldn't need replaced. I've had mine in/out at least three times, and have no leaks at 255k.

 

Thanks for the info It was the front driver side steering knuckle...Pulled it out and Replaced it... The wheel hub was really hard to remove. All Back together and runnig good...
