Dodge with a blown Cummins
Hey, I'm a ford guy looking to put a cummins into my 2005 superduty.
A co-worker of mine blew his 2005 cummins (dropped a rod) in his service truck. Crew cab dually.
It's just a cab and chassis. Can u guys tell me roughly how much a truck like this is worth?

This truck is an 05 dodge diesel,
long box dually. Like I said dropped a rod, and we agreed on 4500 bucks for the truck, I figured drop a cummins in it for $4000 ( I can do the work myself) and then rebuild and install the rebuilt 05 eng in my ford.

Any idea whether there was more damage done when the rod dropped? I think a Superduty Ford with a Cummins would the ultimate truck! Nearly everything about the Cummins is rebuildable, and parts are plentiful.
if it dropped a rod thats scary whats the insides looklike would be my question if i droped a rod pretty high odds of not being rebuildible or if rebuildible whatneeds replaced crank?head?pistons?resleeved and so on .....................adds up quick might be better off to buy a short block or long block with ur plans (imo) thats just me if u was wanting to build a dodge might be a diff story
parts are kinda plentiful. i just rebuilt my 05 and had a hell of a time finding some stuff. if it can be bored out then the rebuild will be cheaper. my parts were from cummins and i had 1645 in the rebuild kit. injectors are whats hard to find if they are good then youll be in good shape
Dropped rod= totalled engine nothing will be good inside Surprized it didn't punch a hole in the block! But I bet it cracked it somewhere! Get a flashlight and check the sides XCAREFULLY! 4500 is way to much! 4-6k for a drop in engine and then the labor to do it that's a week by yourself! Have the truck done for 10k I know what your thinking maybe make 6-10k on the sale IF you find the right buyer. Then have a engine to rebuild BUT most places want a core back!
