Default 02 24v cutting out

I have the chance to buy a 2002 cummins 5 speed manual with 159xxx for 7700 but its cutting out at certain rpms what could it be and how much would it cost me hoping its nothing major but Idk any advice

Has hot rod pump and fass fuel pump with 1/2 line

what rpms is it cutting out at? I'd run a scanner on it and see if ther are any codes as well

No module or programmer on it? Ditto on what RPMs. What about boost gauge? Could be de-fueling its self do to over boosting.

I will find out what rpms and i will def take a scanner when i make the trip to go look at it dont really know about the boost gauge i will find out i have been looking around and does the 2002 have the tone ring or not and tps? and no programmer or anything

tone ring???? you mean silencer ring for the turbo? yeah the factory turbo will have that ring but removing would not affect the cutting out issue you describe. APPS aka TPS could be the issue but again, check for codes when you get to looking at it, another issue ive seen cause a cutting out situation is a clogged fuel filter, find out if its been replaced and when, ive seen filters as black as tar and people wondering why they have issues. THe boost gauge is an aftermarket add on, it didnt come with on from the factory so unless it has aftermarket gauges, there wont be a boost gauge

tone ring is only in the 98.5-99 models. its what the crank sensor reads. the 00-02 doesnt have a crank sensors therefor no tone ring. and if its cutting out or missing of sorts at 2300-2800, a lot of the hrvps do that its something to do with the change in pump timing and advance. not all do it but some will. but only with no load on it. if its doing it under load you could have an injector sticking, or if you only have stock injectors it could be the pump trying to hydro lock. some times a bigger pump on stock stuff dont work to well.
