Default Blowing oil out the sipstick tube

Like the title states thats what im running into now. Oddly enough the truck runs fine and has great power. My buddy's dad told me the rings are gone. ANyone had this happen? And what would something like this usually run to fix?

Sounds like blow by in the motor (which is what your buddys dad said). It usually happens if the truck is run hard without being warmed up. You are probably looking at a motor rebuild which cost will vary on from shop to shop. Hope this helps.

is it blowing oil or is it just blowing a white vapor out of the tube.

yeah you have some good blow by going on. do you notice your oil thining out any like its getting diesel mixed in?

i had same problem and when i pulled head fownd the head gasket was gone between cylinder and oil passage, but my truck smoked like a train.

Have you noticed the oil thinning out like it has diesel in it or maybe has a sweet smell like antifreeze Is leaking in? or possibly the antifreeze/coolant is getting darker?

More than likely at some point you will have to tear the engine down and rebuild or replace to know what is the problem for sure

i had the same problem but if your truck runs good your goina have that i would put 1 or 2 blow buy tubes in your first or first and second valve cover. i run two 3/4 in lines out of my 4th and 5th valve covers

cheapest thing to do is check for major vacuum leaks first. a blown seal in the vacuum pump or major leaks will cause the pump to vent to the crankcase and will cause blowby. it sounds much more severe than this, but start with the cheap stuff!

i've seen this a lot with higher mileage engines. I've seen them run forever with this condition and not having any problems with loss of power or anything. best thing to do is buy the vavle cover mounted vent set up and remove/plug the breather in the timing cover. most of it has to do with the rpms and not the blowby at all, at high rpms your front gears are spinning like crazy, throwing oil everywhere and right out that hole in the timing cover. if you want a really cheap fix- strap a water bottle to the end of the tube, let the tube go in a little cut a small hole in the top of the bottle above the tube and it will catch the oil. but you gotta empty the bottle often.
