Default New to the Dodge world!!

Hey guys, I come from the Toyota Rockcrawling world. I just picked up my first diesel two weeks ago, Finally. Its a 1993 W250 SE. I bought it from the origanal owner with 280K but the truck is VERY clean and the interior is damn near mint, Everything works including the power mirrors and O/D switch, Somthing im not used to!!! My last tow rig was a 89 Ford 250 with the 460, Lets just say the reliability wasnt there and parts liked to fall off. The Dodge is from Oragen, and is completely rust free besides for a little on top of the drivers side fender. My plan is turn this thing into a off-road recovery vehical. Ill be ordering some Recentered H1 beadlock wheels, Goodyear military surplus 37s, installing the BDS 5 inch kit and installing 4.10s with detroits in both ends in the truck, and converting to a manual trans. Aswell as fabing up wich bumper for the front and a more heavy duty bumper in the rear, Im not afraid to ram things BTW . Anyways, this is my old set up, I dont have Pics of the New truck yet, Maybe tomarrow.

I recommend the NV4500 with a fith-gear nut update. This is a common choice and a common fix, but as you're new to the dodge diesel world, I thought I would stop by and give you that little bit incase nobody else has yet. its a good tranny, and its cheap to rebuild if you're too ah "free spirited" for it . google high impact transmission and the website with the full conversion kit will come up!

Nice truck. Shame to tear it up in to a tow vehicle, but to each his own I guess. Good luck with your build.

high impact builds all kinds of drive train components, and can even build a custom piece specifically for your application. If you're looking for something like a ten speed, I would personally go with an Eaton.
