ok im looking at buying a 1990 d2500 12v with 5 speed for a doner truck to swap my 96 what trans is in that truck a getrag or nv4500 and if a getrag are they good trans also if i buy this truck can i put my 47re in it and what all do i have to do to make it work

 

a 96 would be the nv4500

the getrag was in the 89-93 models

 

ok thanks know is a getrag any good when it comes to abuse i plan on building my truck even more will it handle it

yes it would be and a getrag and if you look at the drivers side of a getrag you will see the name on it and the are ok at lower leves of power but when it get to holding big # thats not the best trans for it i am told they can be built up to handle the power dont know how much to build it if you want big power look for 5600 has about the best reputation for holding big power 4500 is your next best bet hope that helps
