Default Idle RPM

My 2004.5 Cummins idles @ 750 RPM. If it is parked it will alternate between 750 and 1000 RPM is this normal?

I have an 03 which does that when i first start it up, seems to corrispond to when the heater comes on and off for the air and probably fuel, and recharge the batteries after starting, once its on after a few minutes it evens out and stays pretty consistant

Completely normal. It goes off the intake temp I beleive. They kick the idle up to 1000 so they warm up quicker and it's easier on everything to idle that little bit higher.

Its your heater grid cylcing. This completely normal for cold weather. No worries.

the heater grid wont make the idle jump that much, maybe 20-30rpm

Waldo, take your rig to your local dodge dealer and ask them if they can enable the elevated idle in your truck
If you press the cruse on button the idle will kick up to 1000rpm, and if you press the acel button it will idle up to about 1400rpm to warm up even quicker

Yep, if the intake temp drops it will idle up to keep the cylinders warm and stop wet stacking. Built into the ECU.

Does this work on an 07? I tried this a couple of days ago and could not get to function.
