Blow by
I have an 06 Dodge that has some blow-by. Some have told me that it will have some blow by and some have told me I need an engine rebuild or remanufactured replacement. It has 118k miles, an oil leak from the front gear cover that I need to fix, and my wife is freaking out
. It runs fine, blows a little more black smoke than it used to, idles a little lower (600), and still does everything I need.
My question is how much blow by is ok? If you take the oil cap off when its running, you can feel it on your hand. I need to know if this is acceptable for a while, or if I really need to fix it now?
Thanks

take it to a good diesel mechanic and have them do a compression check, my 04 had alot of blow by. it looked like a train when i took off my oil filler cap and it was because the rings in #1 and #6 gave up the ghost. how much oil is it using?
