how hard and what all would it take to put a turbo on a 7.3 non turbo truck, i think its a 86, a friend is buying it real cheap and i have the stock turbo off my 99 powerstroke would it work on the truck if we can hook it up.

 

I personally think its easier just to find a turbo setup off a 94 idi turbo cus everything will bolt rite up

 

no it will not work, you have to buy a special turbo kit for it, they runs bout 2000, on the non turbo the fuel housing is in the rear of the motor,

 

it is possible to do but will take alot of fab work such as mounting, piping, getting oil and oil return lines to and from the turbo and setting up the wastgate (if it is a waste gated turbo that is) so that it doesnt put out more then 10psi MAX because thats rele all these motors will take with out head studs. your better off finding a turbo kit thats for the 7.3l idi.
