Default Surging Around 1200rpm

So I picked up my truck today and wow is it awesome. Its really hard to drive but Im getting the hang of it. Ive noticed when Im driving though and Im not sure yet if its me or the truck but this usualy happens when it third it will start surging and give you whiplash. no Im no sure if this is me or the truck as I have not driven it enough yet but to get out of this I either need to mash it or completly let off. Is there something in the pump that can cuase this or is it a 12v thing or do I just need to man of and get some seat time?

The hole story will get better answers , you just got it back , does that mean something was done that your not telling , that may have caused this symptom .

How much boost are you pulling? I am not sure about a manual, my auto will do it when it locks up and the the boost is more then I am using and it backflows back through the turbo and the air intake. Are you getting any turbo bark when this happens?

What are the specifics when it happens? RPMs, throttle position, boost, etc.

Your general description will only get ya general answers.

It usually happens around 1200 and when Im rolling on up to about 1/4 throttle maybe alil past. Not sure on what the boost is when it happens its usually bellow 10psi when im just bogging around. Ive gotten better at driving it and didnt have it happen today and I put down 130 miles today.

This weekend Im going to pull off the afc so I can figure out what plate is in there and what position its in. Im thinking about cuting it to a 0 but I think Im going to wait and see what clutch is in it first I dont want to put down to much power and it feels like its pushing it right now.

What kinda boost should I be seeing around town keeping the R's bellow 2k? Ive really gotta work it to get boost up but this is my first diesel with guages and a stick.

I did not realize you just bought , in my mind , it sounded like you got it back from a shop .
Can you get to the last owner to see what has been done , I'm in similar boat , some mods , but bought from dealer so not sure what was done .
I've read that some want to save a few bucks & put washers under gov. springs ,instead of new springs , its spouse to work , but much harder to tune , more back & forth to get all to work together .
At least some of the possibles are gone with trans upgrade .

I'am in contact with the previous owner but hes clueless to what exactly is dont becuase the owner before him did the work so Im in the middle of getting ahold of the previous previous owner. I found now that I can drive it when it happens it more a less lopes a little bit rather than surgeing. And when trying to high idle it in the morning right above 1200 it will just want to jump up to like 1600, its pretty much inpossible for me to high idle it at 1500.

Lopes not uncommon in that RPM range on smaller P-pumps w/ big sticks. Mines horrible b/w 1100 and 1300 RPMs. Bigger DVs are suppose to help the smaller pumps but I haven't gotten around to getting a set for mine.
